Acorn Sprouting

We’re all evolving souls in a meaningful universe….

Subject: A lost treasure

You’ll never guess what turned up today while I was cleaning out my office! I found a dusty old cardboard box, and inside was that manuscript I put together from the letters we wrote on reimagining astrology. Do you remember? Doesn’t it seem like lifetimes ago? The letters seem to have stopped after the first few months, and I must’ve filed this material away for future reference. In many ways, it seems more pertinent now than when we originally wrote it. So here’s a big question: Would you be interested in refreshing it, resurrecting it, perhaps infusing this mysterious never-to-be-forgotten manuscript with new life? Your thoughts?

Subject: A lost treasure found

“Never guess” barely says it! My time back east was such a whirlwind, and thinking back on our respective transits and progressions for the three years I was there, I’m surprised we managed to exchange any letters at all—and on typewriters! I can’t really think why the correspondence would’ve ended. I know I got more consumed with layers of issues and problems I had with the school (Saturn & Pluto my constant companions then), so that probably conspired with your Ph.D. work to use up huge chunks of time and energy on both sides.

Subject: That lost treasure

Well, when it comes to memory these days, I’m far from perfect. What I do know is that we’d written about reimagining astrology post-dissertation. Still, until now it’s somehow had a hard time finding its way back into our hearts and souls. But it’s reached mine, so I move we resurrect it and bring it back to life. Are you willing?

Subject: Available for treasure hunt

It’s pretty amazing. All I can say is Psyche doesn’t play small and now seems to have reached across time to draw us into extending that particular conversation. Years ago I heard Clarissa Pinkola Estés say that all projects have a life of their own, and some have to go into a pot on the back burner to simmer for longer than we could ever imagine. In my own writing experience, I’ve come to believe a project has its own unique spirit, and said spirit has its own timing, its own agenda. So in response to your suggestion that we refresh and resurrect this one, I say yes, yes, let’s do it. Maybe it wants us to know it’s time to launch an updated perspective on reimagining astrology out into the world.

After your initial email I was thinking about how your work with images not only spans these many years but has also materialized into your beautiful sculpting work while mine’s gone in the direction of writing and poetry.

Subject: Images work in mysterious ways

I’ve learned there’s no way to fight the images that emerge and ask to be sculpted. They begin as psyche’s images but ultimately become embodied in physical form. For me anyway, they’re often
